The Goose & Turrets is located in Montara, California about 35 minutes south of downtown San Francisco. Below are directions to the inn once you arrive in Montara, followed by directions to Montara from various locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Getting to the Inn ...

Once you reach Montara, coming either from the north or the south on Highway 1, look for La Costanera Restaurant (formerly The Outrigger), which is at the north end of Montara on the beach. Opposite the restaurant is 2nd Street. Turn east (inland) on 2nd, an immediate right on Main Street, go one short block and turn left on 3rd Street. Go east for 1/2 mile, past 4 stop signs, and you will have reached the Goose and Turrets (pay no attention to street signs -- at this point you will be on George Street). The Inn is on the left, a 2-story gray building, with 2 red cannon beside the front door! The address is 835 George Street.

... and Getting to Montara

From the Golden Gate Bridge...

As you approach the toll section of the bridge drive to far right booth. After paying the toll make a right turn and follow the road until you reach 25th Street. Turn left on 25th and go to Geary Street. On Geary Street turn right (west) and continue until Geary becomes the Great Highway with the Pacific Ocean on the right. Continue on the Great Highway until it ends on Highway 1 and Highway 35. Take the exit to Pacifica and continue on Highway 1 through this stretched out town. Past Pacifica the road becomes 2 lanes and passes "Devil's Slide" with the ocean on the right. The first structure after Devil's Slide is La Costanera restaurant. You are now in Montara.

From Downtown San Francisco...

To come from San Francisco, take Hwy 101 south to Hwy 280 south to Hwy 1 south, go through Pacifica, after the freeway becomes a little 2-lane road, continue south for about 5 miles when you will see La Costanera Restaurant on your right on the ocean. You are now in Montara.

From San Francisco Airport...

As you leave the airport, stay in the right-hand lane and go north following signs towards San Bruno and "380 to 280". The freeway makes a sweeping left-hand turn becoming Freeway 380; after a couple of miles take Freeway 280 north to San Francisco. Again, stay in the right-hand lane and you will be forced to take the first exit "Avalon and Westborough." Proceed to the second traffic light; get in the left-hand turn lane and turn left (west) onto Westborough, taking it west to Highway 1. Follow the signs to take Highway 1 south towards Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz.

After passing Pacifica on Highway 1, the road narrows to two lanes. The Pacific Ocean will be on your right. The first structure you will encounter will be La Costanera Restaurant. You are now in Montara. It is about a 30-minute drive from the airport.

From the East Bay...

Your best route is to pick up Hwy. 92 west in Hayward, come across the San Mateo Bridge, and continue to the town of Half Moon Bay. There you will intersect with Hwy 1; turn right (north) keeping the ocean on your left. Go 8 miles; you will see La Costanera Restaurant on your left on the ocean. You are now in Montara.

From Oakland Airport...

Out of Oakland Airport take 880 south to 92 west. Go across the San Mateo Bridge and continue to the town of Half Moon Bay. There you will intersect with Hwy 1; turn right (north) keeping the ocean on your left. Go 8 miles; you will see La Costanera Restaurant on your left on the ocean. You are now in Montara.

From San Jose International Airport...

From the terminal building turn right onto Airport Blvd. and follow signs to Highway 880 heading towards Santa Cruz and 280. At the Highway 280 exit take the San Francisco lane heading North. Stay on Highway 280 until you reach Highway 92 heading for Half Moon Bay. Take Highway 92 until it ends at Highway 1. Turn right keeping the ocean on your left. Go 8 miles; you will see La Costanera Restaurant on your left on the ocean. You are now in Montara.

From Points South...

Your best route is Fwy 280 north to Hwy 92 west. In the town of Half Moon Bay, you will intersect with Hwy 1; turn right (north) keeping the ocean on your left. Go 8 miles; you will see La Costanera Restaurant on your left on the ocean. You are now in Montara.
