The historic building, constructed around 1907, and its quiet gardens are only 20 minutes from San Francisco airport and 30 minutes south of downtown San Francisco. Best of all, a pleasant half-mile walk takes you to a clean sandy beach where harbor seals stare back at the occasional beachcomber.

Every afternoon at 4:30, tea with sweets and savouries appears in the spacious common area. This is a good time to meet and talk with fellow guests and the hosts -- who can also help with dinner choices. By the way - this is not "high tea," that's for children and nannies. Fires in the fireplace when it's foggy incline guests to choose a book to read or music to play (either themselves on the piano or by others on the CD deck).

Many of the herbs and vegetables used in Goose & Turrets breakfasts come from the surrounding gardens and orchard. The owners, Raymond and Emily Hoche-Mong, live on the property and are knowledgeable gardeners.
